The Bikram Sambat (BS), also spelled Vikram Samvat, is a Hindu solar calendar that has been used in Nepal for centuries. It is named after the legendary Emperor Vikramaditya and is believed to have started in 57 BCE. Key facts about the BS calendar:

• BS is approximately 56 years and 8 months ahead of AD. So 2081 BS ≈ 2024–2025 AD.
• The Nepali New Year (Naya Barsha) begins in mid-April (Baisakh 1) each year.
